There is much, much more to the Gordon Kahl story than what is contained in the 113 minute version of Death & Taxes. As you may or may not know, we spent over five years making the movie and we dredged up over 150 hours of interviews and newsreels, talking to hundreds of people and reviewing tens of thousands of pages of court transcripts and Freedom of Information Act-obtained government documents.

It took us over two years of editing to put together the movie many of you have already seen. The frustration we faced was how do you condense such a huge subject down into a commercial movie. Hence, we had to make some very difficult decisions to tell the entire story of Gordon Kahl in a two hour version.

I have often felt that the movie Death & Taxes is really just a Table of Contents to this epic story. For every five minute section of Death & Taxes there is about 45 minutes of a much more detailed and documented story which we edited in what is called a roughcut (14 hours). What we've decided to do is offer these expanded sections of Gordon Kahl's life story to those of you who are interested in discovering the whole truth. 3) GORDON'S TEXAS TAX TRIAL (90 minutes)

An in-depth look at Kahl's tax trial where he was selectively prosecuted for going on TV and saying the federal income tax was unconstitutional. 6) MYSTERIOUS DEATH IN ARKANSAS (90 minutes)

Intercutting interviews with law enforcement officers who were at the death scene, Arkansas Coroner Fahmy Malek, investigator Jack McLamb, Arkansas Democrat newspaper reporter Gene Nail who was driven out of journalism for his expose' and the Arkansas citizens who were imprisoned for harboring Gordon. We piece together the witnesses' chronological accounts of the day of the death of a man who might have been Kahl.

A chronological cut of how the news & TV media covered Gordon Kahl from his first TV appearance in Texas where he proclaimed federal income taxes were unconstitutional to Dan Rather and Diane Sawyer, to Jim Wickstrom jumping on the media bandwagon, to the slandering of Yorie Kahl by the North Dakota media during the family trial to the NBC TV movie starring Rod Steiger.
